Technology suffuses education - from obvious technologies (like writing and the internet) to less obvious ones (like classrooms and rankings). These technologies intermix to create a new culture: a machine culture. We use technology exactly because it changes education. But some of the collateral changes work against the very nature and purpose of education. How, for example, does technology’s propensity to uniformity and reductionism engage with education’s task of forming individuals and shaping societies? In this series we consider the nature of education and technology, how they interact, and what a Christian perspective contributesto our engagementwith them and their interactions.
