Dr. Liu has written over 50 papers in academic journals and registered 8 US technology patents.
Dr. Liu was with BNR, the research laboratory of Nortel in Quebec and in Silicon Valley, California. He contributed to the then CCITT, ANSI, and EIA industrial and communication standards in the areas of protocols and human factors in communication. Later, he co-founded a data and satellite communication equipment manufacturing company in the Science Based Industrial Park in Hsinchu, Taiwan.
Upon his return to Hong Kong, he joined the Department of Electronic Engineering at Hong Kong Polytechnic University as Associate Professor.
Dr. Liu’s next move in career was to become Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of ASM Pacific Technology, a manufacturer in semiconductor equipment located in Hong Kong and Singapore. There, he grew the R&D team from 80 engineers and scientists to 880 before he retired. This is one of the strongest research team in the region with over 100 PhDs.
After he retired, he was invited to become the Vice Dean of Peter F. Drucker Academy, responsible for curriculum and staff development. Peter has also served the local universities as members of Advisory Committees of HKUST, HKBU, CUHK, and PolyU; and as Chairperson of CUBIC (CityU Business and Industrial Club). He was Adjunct Professor of CUHK from 2004-2008, and Central South University of China from 2001-2009. He was a technical advisor to ASTRI.
Dr. Liu designs and teaches courses to Christian leaders and pastors for Bethel Bible Seminary and the City Transformation Centre of Bakke University.
