Dr. Yam’s expertise in teaching and research focus on the interrelationship between contemporary Christian theologies, popular media cultures, and sociocultural developments in modern Chinese and East Asian societies. He is particularly interested in different implicit religious expressions in the popular media in Hong Kong against the backdrop of socio-political and cultural transitions since the mid-twentieth century. He is enthusiastic about studying the challenges confronting religion and humanity posed by the emerging understanding of animality and posthumanity, especially as manifested in popular media.
