HUI Bon Hoa Max
Dr. Hui-Bon-Hoa was born and raised in Hong Kong. After he finished his secondary schooling, he left for the U.S. for college. He subsequently graduated from Stanford University with a BA and MA in English and American Literature (1978), a second MA in English Education (1981), and a third MA in Higher Education (1981). Between 1990 and 1991, he spent a year at Harvard where he received a CAS (Certificate in Advanced Study – a qualification above the MA). In 1997, he completed his PhD in Languages in Education at the Institute of Education, the University of London.

He taught at Tunghai University and National Taiwan University in the early 1980s before returning to his home town. He worked at the University of Hong Kong between 1985 and 2012, where he taught English language and literature. For the last 20 years, he has been actively involved in training English teachers in Hong Kong, Macau, and Mainland China. Dr. Hui-Bon-Hoa took early retirement in July, 2012, and since then, has been engaged in two major activities: teaching and writing. He is currently teaching literature at the School of Professional and Continuing Education (SPACE, affiliated with the University of Hong Kong), the Bible as Literature at Ladder Mission, and conducts teacher-training in different parts of China. As for writing, he has written, translated, and edited 20 books so far. His research interests are: Modern American Literature, the Bible as Literature, Language Arts, and the teaching of literature.
