Venue: Lumina College, 3/F, Breakthrough Centre, 191 Woosung Street, Jordan, Kowloon, HK

Seminar part 1: Why Christian Higher Education in a Prison?

“Why a University in Prison?”  i.e. Why would prisoners be interested in a liberal arts education, and why would a college be interested in teaching these students?  These questions highlight the goals of Christian education, because these students are certainly not studying for status or to get a better career.

Speaker: Dr Claudia BEVERSLUIS

Professor of Psychology

Calvin College

Seminar part 2: Our Daily Work:  What Does the Bible Have to Say?

God’s Word is filled with insight, instruction, and narratives about his people at work.  I will sketch some of the scope of this topic, drawing on the Theology of Work Project, a commentary on what every book of the Bible has to say about our work.  Then I will look at the story of Joseph through the lens of a career.  As we don’t want to put our work against our families and our church, we will talk about what it means to live an integrated life.
