Does God favor the poor? If so, what should Christians do about it? This seminar explores three questions: First, Who are the poor? Based on a theology of poverty, we will compare and contrast the secular and biblical views of the poor. Second, What story are we pointing the poor to? Based on a theology of development, we will discuss how transformational development fits into God’s story for humankind. Third, How do our own stories fit into this? After understanding God’s heart for the poor, how should we live our own stories today, especially in today’s society and economic and political climate?
