Ranked as one of the top 18 private colleges in the US (Fiske Guide to Colleges 2018)#, Wheaton has been known not only for its academic excellence, but also for its solid Christian tradition for over 150 years.  Starting with only 7 students in 1860, Wheaton grew to become the eighth largest liberal arts college in America during the Great Depression, celebrated its 100th anniversary with 18,000 people at the evangelistic crusade on campus led by eminent alumnus Billy Graham, and continues to impact the world with students serving in 60 countries through missions and service projects as well as academic programs.

#Fiske Guide to Colleges 2018

As the second President Charles Blanchard aptly stated, “… the College can have no joy unless those whom it instructs become powers in the world, working for righteousness.”  Wheaton’s mission has always been preparing servant leaders who can put their education into action and make a difference “For Christ and His Kingdom” at home, at church, in the marketplace, and in the wider world.

Jim Elliot (1949 alumnus)

“He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose.”

Jim Elliot lost his life to an indigenous tribe in Ecuador with four other missionaries more than half a century ago.

Todd Beamer (1991 alumnus)

“Let’s roll.”

Todd Beamer transformed the world by sacrificing himself on United Flight 93 to prevent a possible catastrophe at the Pentagon during the time of 911.

Josephine So Yan Pui (1966 alumnus)

“Instead of cursing darkness, light yourself up as a burning sacrifice.”

So Yan Pui founded and expanded Breakthrough, Hong Kong in the midst of her continual struggle with cancer.
